Trust and foundations

“We’re really proud of the work Circus Starr has achieved with our support through our Community Giving Fund”
NFU Mutual

Circus Starr receives 3% of our income through Trusts, Foundations and Lotteries. These funds have been vital in enabling Circus Starr to make step changes organisationally.

Awards from these sources have allowed us to go on tour with a Changing Places toilet, create sensory stories to share with young people with complex needs and bring the circus experience to life for blind and partially sighted children.

Funding from these sources has helped our organisation to grow and be more innovative to engage and support families often excluded from the fun of live arts events.

How Trust Funding could help

£1,000 would fund the setting up of an access table with tactile models and access book of costume fabric and detail for visually impaired audience members when time doesn’t allow for a pre-show touch tour.

£2,500 would provide staff training in outcome and impact measurement.

£20,000 would provide a touring changing places toilet for a year.

Circus Starr are grateful to receive funding from the following grant giving bodies, whose support has been crucial in creating better access to the arts for families who have never or rarely experienced the joy of live performance.

Big lottery fund awards for all England

Big Lottery Fund supported Circus Starr in 2017 with an Award for All totalling £5,886 to run touch tours and audio described circus performances bringing the circus experience to life for children and young people with visual impairments.
